Twin towns are also called as sister cities. Twin towns are formed after a social on the legal agreement between cities, towns, countries, provinces, States, regions, etc. These areas are politically and geographically distinct. The purpose behind creating search twin towns is to promote commercial and cultural ties. This helps in the mutual growth of both the towns. When we were on Mongolia tour packages, we went through the concept of Twin towns. This concept was conceived in the year 1947 after the Second World War. It is understood that the major intention behind this step was to develop understanding and friendship among various cultures. It was to bring reconciliation and peace in the world among those who were earlier foes. It was also to promote tourism and trade among those areas. It was one of the strategies to promote International peace in the world.
Erdenet: The twin town
The ad unit is a city in Mongolia that forms sister cities or twin towns with Fairbanks, Ulan-Ude, Erdenet, and Szekesfehervar among cities. It forms twin towns with the following regions: Alaska, Buryatia, Balikesir and Fejer County. It also forms twin towns with countries like the United States, Russia, Turkey, and Hungary. So, there are many cities, areas, and countries with which the city has established the terms of Twin Towns.
Singletrack railway in the Twin town
The Twin town of Mongolia, Erdenet; is a very young City. It was founded in the year 1974. There are very large deposits of copper in Mongolia. Copper was discovered in the year 1950s. There is a single-track railway line that links the Twin town to the trans-Mongolian Railway. It was inaugurated in the year 1977. Its length is 120 km. The most surprising thing to know about this railway track is that 50% of the inhabitants worked as miners or engineers who contributed in the construction of this single track Railway. Today there are only 10% of citizens of Mongolia are Russians.
Beautiful places in the Twin town
There are many beautiful places in the Twin town like the fraternity monument, residential area with LDS Church, the city center, the main street, new Buddha statue, the market in the center, typical residential area in the west of Erdenet and amusement park. We could cover some of the places only. There are many other tourist spots in the Twin town and it was a great time. There are national parks and many other places where the guide took us and we were having a lot of fun. It is highly recommended that you visit the city of Erdenet in Mongolia if you visit there.
Our experience of Twin town in Mongolia on Mongolia holiday package was very different and full of learning. My entire family enjoyed a lot and we are also planning to come here again. It was not possible to visit all the places to heart’s content. Therefore we will be soon planning to come back to the Twin town of Mongolia and visit here ear again.
